“Anna found the gap in about ten minutes that school hadn't found in two years. Tom passed the 11+ in September.”
— Mark, parent, Tenbury Wells
Anna teaches maths from Key Stage 2 to GCSE, combined science to GCSE, and preparation for the 11+. Every price on this page is per hour, one to one or in a small group of up to four, and an online session costs the same as one in the study room.
Key Stage 2 maths · Years 5 and 6, ages 9 to 11
At nine, ten and eleven, most trouble with maths comes down to a few basics that never quite settled. Those come first.
For children in Years 5 and 6, Anna begins with number: place value, times tables, fractions, and adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing without panic. She finds where the gaps are in the first half hour, then fills them in order, so that what the class is doing starts to make sense again. Sessions are an hour, once a week, one to one or in a small group of up to four.

11+ preparation · maths and reasoning, the year before the test
“Calm, kind and properly expert. Our son actually looks forward to maths now.”
— Priya, parent, Leominster
The 11+ tests maths and reasoning. Reasoning means the puzzle-style questions about patterns in words, numbers and shapes that most children have never been taught at school. Anna covers both, steadily, through the year before the test, so that by the morning itself your child has met every kind of question before.
There is no weekly mock exam and no talk of falling behind. Confidence comes first, then accuracy, then speed.

Key Stage 3 maths · Years 7 to 9, ages 11 to 14
“I used to freeze on algebra. Now I actually put my hand up in class.”
— Josh, pupil
Years 7 to 9 are where children slip quietly behind. Classes move fast, and a child who never quite got fractions or negative numbers in Year 7 finds algebra in Year 9 impossible. Anna goes back to find what was missed, puts it right, and then catches up with what the class is doing now, so that GCSE begins on firm ground rather than on a wobble.

GCSE maths, Foundation and Higher · Years 10 and 11, ages 14 to 16
“Ellie went from dreading Tuesdays to asking if she could stay longer. She got a 7 in her maths GCSE, two grades above her prediction.”
— Rachel, parent of Ellie, GCSE maths
GCSE maths is sat at one of two tiers. Foundation covers grades 1 to 5. Higher covers grades 4 to 9. Anna works towards whichever tier your child's school has entered them for, and will say plainly if she thinks the other would suit them better. Sessions follow the school's course through Years 10 and 11, with exam questions brought in once the basics underneath them are secure.

GCSE combined science · Years 10 and 11, ages 14 to 16
Most pupils who come for maths find the hard part of science is the maths inside it. One teacher can hold both.
Combined science is biology, chemistry and physics taught together and sat as one course worth two GCSEs; it is the course most pupils take. Anna teaches combined science rather than the three separate sciences. She covers all three parts, with particular care for the maths that runs through them: units, graphs, ratios and rearranging equations. Many families bring both maths and science to her, so one teacher sees the whole picture of how a child is doing.

Small groups of up to four
Four children at the same stage, one teacher, one hour. Small enough that nobody can hide at the back.
| Level | One to one, per hour | Small group, per child per hour |
|---|---|---|
| Key Stage 2 maths and 11+ preparation | £36 | £20 |
| Key Stage 3 maths and GCSE maths | £42 | £20 |
| GCSE combined science | £42 | £20 |
A group is up to four children working at the same stage, in the study room or online. Each child has their own work and Anna's attention in turn, and children often find it easier to ask a question when the person beside them has the same one.
Groups are £20 per child per hour at every level. If you are not sure which suits your child, the free half hour is where that gets decided together.
Weekly, booked by the term
Sessions are weekly, at the same time each week, and booked by the term. If a session has to be missed, 24 hours' notice is enough to cancel it. Before any of that, the first half hour is free: a 30-minute assessment in the study room or online, so you and your child can see whether it suits before anything is paid.
